If you do a job adequately, you shouldn’t be expected to get anything more than a “good job.” If you do a job exceedingly well, then rewards might come sooner than you think. However, what I read today on MTV News was nothing short of astounding. It seemed like an article was actually commending a person for paying off child support. For someone who was written for a company working on collecting child support debt and the like, I am left dumbfounded.
As told by MTV News, multi-time platinum record producer named Scott Storch was about to be arrested due to failure to pay child support. A lawyer came out and said that he could avoid such legal troubles once the debt was cleared in a matter of days. Before that time, Storch owed $28,300 to the mother of his child and he missed an appointed court date as well. Hopefully this means he’s on the good path but the fact that such a story was published left me flabbergasted.
Why would anyone commend a person simply because they’re about to do what they were supposed to do all along? If I were to write an article and send it out, then I didn’t do anything more than what I was tasked to do. A man had a child with someone and now that things have gone sour with that relationship, he has to perform his duties as a father. Not paying for his child doesn’t do him much good in the eyes of the public.
I’m sure that those companies which work in collecting child support debtcould have a field day with this story. These very companies, such as R.R.S., would more than likely see just how much money was owed and be employed to help the mother procure what is owed. These collectors would, more than anything else, assist Storch in a professional manner. If he needs the assistance, then he could rest assured that these organizations would operate in a fair manner.
While I believe that Storch deserves as much help on the situation as just about anyone, was a whole news story truly worth it? MTV, in my mind, took up bandwidth on a story that, quite frankly didn’t deserve it. There were many other reports that could have been done, in my mind. My criticism aside, I’m glad to see that things for Storch have ended on a better note and the worst of his financial problems are seemingly over.
