Do you find photography to be exciting, but don’t know enough about it to get started? Not sure what kind of lighting to use, or how to compose the subjects of your shots? Photography is an art form that changes regularly and a professional that can always be improved upon.
If you’re taking pictures of landscapes, you will want to create depth and perspective for the viewer. Foreground is very important in landscape photography; place an object in the foreground to create a sense of depth and scale. Giving sharp focus to your photos can be as simple as changing your settings. Apertures less than f/8 for digital cameras, and f/16 for full framed SLR cameras, will give you the image you really want.
Your arms should be near your body when holding the camera, and make sure your hands are on the sides and bottom. You will get less shaking and have clearer shots. When you place your hands under the lens and camera body, you will reduce the risk of dropping your camera unintentionally.
When you are choosing which photographs you want to display, look at each picture you have taken and only choose your favorites. Don’t show every picture you’ve ever shot, and don’t show too many photos with the same theme or subject. Showing the same type of photo repeatedly gets old fast. So keep it fresh while showing all your different photography skills.
Memory Card
Perhaps the best way to get high quality photos is to take a lot of pictures, so it’s important that your camera has a big memory card. A big memory card will allow you to hold a lot more pictures. You will also be able to shoot RAW photos when you have a big memory card, which will allow you to edit them the most in post-production.
Take pictures of the souvenirs you purchased when you travel. To help you remember where you purchased items, stand in front of the store with the object, and take a picture. This photographic memento creates a lasting memory of the context in which you made your purchase and makes it even more meaningful when you return home.
While taking indoor photos under fluorescent lighting, make sure the camera has the appropriate white balance settings. Subjects will not look their best under the harsh light from fluorescent bulbs, so adjust the color settings on your camera.
Learn composition and that less is much more with photographs. A photo does not need to be overly cluttered. There is beauty in the art of simplicity, so keep your shots simple!
Setting deliberate limitations can spark your creativity. As an example, have a specific goal where you only shoot on particular type of image, perhaps something called “sweet.” Choose a single position in the room and make an effort to shoot 100 entirely different pictures. Another alternative is to take 100 photographs within a single location, like a store or a park. The limitations in this environment will help you to think creatively, resulting in more unusual photos.
