Illinois is one of the states that will be going to the ballot this year. Everything is set at the moment; candidates have gone through the primary elections, and every citizen now knows his Illinois congress candidate 2014. The state primary elections were held on 18/ March/2014, and each party chose a representative for the forthcoming general elections.
The senatorial battle will be held on 4/11/ 2014. Former senator and Senate Majority Whip, Democrat Dick Durbin is expecting another period in office. He, however, must beat competition from Oberweis Jim, a Republican Party member. Both of them comfortably won the primaries, with Durbin winning unopposed.
In all the eighteen congressional districts, a candidate was elected to represent his/her respective party. This article looks at individual candidates and how they fared on in the primary elections. It also tries to analyze the candidates in terms of their history, and probability of winning or losing.
In district one; Bobby Rush will be representing the Democratic Party against the Republican, Jimmie Lee Tillman II while in district two, Erick Wallace will carry the flag for the Republicans against Robin Kelly who is a Democrat and incumbent. Charles Rayburn and Marcus Lewis were both removed from the ballot.
The next congressional district saw Sharon Brannigan beat the 2012 candidate to the eleventh congressional District of Illinois, Diane Harris to the title by garnering a total of 62.6% against 37.4% by Harris. She now faces incumbent Democrat, Daniel Lipinski in the forthcoming general elections.
The forth district will witness a tough battle between Hector Concepcion, a Republican, and Luis Gutierrez, a Democrat. Hector was removed from the ballot in 2012, and is back to make appeals this year. Incumbent, Gutierrez on the other hand, is seeking to defend his post after defeating fellow democrats, Alexandra Eidenberg and Jorge Zavala in their party primary held in March.
In district number five, Republicans are not represented. Mike Quigley will face Nancy Wade. In the sixth district, Republican incumbent Peter Roskam will meet Democrat Michael Mason in what might be a fierce battle. In congressional district number seven, Robert Bumpers, a Republican, will be up against Danny Davis, of the Democratic Party. Dan Roche withdrew from this race prior to the party primary.
In district eight, Kaifesh Lawrence is expected to face incumbent Democrat Tammy Duckworth. At the same time, Susanne Atanus, a Republican Party member, will contest against incumbent Schakowsky Janice in the ninth district. The tenth district is looking forward to a tough battle between Brad Schneider of the Democratic Party and Dold Robert. The name of Arlene Hickory was removed from the ballot.
District number eleven will host the fight between Darlene Senger and Bill Foster. Darlene beat three other contenders after another one withdrew from the race. Foster went unopposed. The twelfth district will field three contenders for the position; Republican Mike Bost, William Enyart and Paula Bradshaw. The thirteenth one will also have three candidates: Rodney Davis, Ann Callis and Josh Dill.
The fourteenth district has former office holder Randy Hultgren and Dennis Anderson as its candidates in the general elections. The fifteenth one will also have two candidates going for the post, John Shimkus and Eric Thorsland while the sixteenth one will bring together Adam Kinzinger and Randal Olsen in a tough contest. The seventeenth will field Bobby Schilling and Cheri Bustos of the Republican and Democrat Parties respectively. The eighteenth district will encounter a ferocious contest between Aaron Schlock and Darrel Miller.
