It is difficult not to wonder about the condition of the public educational system when you know that it has never received more funding than it does now. However, one look at history and we see that the quality of education on offer is sorely lacking. For instance, in the year 1930, $800 was spent in a public school to average a literacy rate of roughly 90%. Just 70 years down the line, $7,000 is spent on a single child. Naturally one expects that the literacy rate would have remained unchanged or otherwise improved upon, but in some public schools it is as low as only 50%. Something is clearly very wrong with the public education system.

When you decide that you want to send your child to a private school you are sure to be surprised by just how many there are. You might be surprised to learn that 25% of elementary and secondary schools are private in America. Since there are so many, choosing the right kind can be tricky. There are different types of private or independent schools, such as Catholic schools or other religious schools, day and boarding schools, and so on. Once you understand the differences, choosing the right one is easier.
