It’s important to take quality pictures to protect your reputation as a photographer. The following tips will improve your photos, and give you years of memories your family can enjoy.
Make sure that your arms remain next to your body when you hold a camera, and make sure that the sides and the bottom of the camera are supported. This helps prevent blurry photographs by keeping the movement of your camera to a minimum. You can also keep your camera from slipping out of your hands by holding it from the bottom, rather than the top.
Shutter Speed
Here is a little did-you-know photo hint! Shutter speeds can make the difference between a good and bad photo, so learn more about them. The shutter speed settings you will find on your camera are: P,M,A & S. The “P” setting means program mode. In this fully automatic camera setting, your shutter speed and aperture are set for you automatically. If you have no idea what settings you want, “P” is a safe choice!
Move in closer to whatever subject you’re taking a picture of. Nothing’s worse than seeing a photo of something that’s too distant to identify any details or colors. Move closer to give your shots vivid clarity.
There is no reason you can’t move around your subject to find the best angle to photograph. If possible, take a spectrum of shots from many angles including from above and below.
Take the time to make anyone who models for you comfortable, and this is especially true if they are not familiar with you. People sometimes feel threatened when their picture gets taken. Be friendly, strike up a conversation and ask permission to take pictures. Be clear that the purpose of your photographs is artistic and not invasive.
Consider getting involved with a photography club, or shoot some pictures with a fellow photographer. You can learn a lot about technique from other people, as long as you are careful to maintain your unique perspective. You can even compare photographs of the same subject with another photographer and discuss the differences.
You can combat poor photography through research and practice. You just have to do some research, and ask others to critique your work to find out what steps to take to improve. By using these tips, you can build memories to last a lifetime.
